What’s Tanit?
Our name sake, Tanit, is actually a “who.” She is a Phoenician Goddess–the Lady of Carthage–who ruled over the sun, stars, and moon.
Tanit is the Queen of Good Fortune and the Harvest.
Among her symbols are included
- The palm tree, desert version of the Tree of Life
- The serpent, symbolic of the life-force of the Earth
- The dove, symbol of love and fecundity
- Grapes & the pomegranate, symbols of fruitfulness & fertility
- The crescent moon, symbol of the changing seasons
- The lion, symbol of courage
